City of Bones Goodreads synopsis: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare’s ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.
My Thoughts on the Series: I love this series and I am so ashamed that it took me so long to finish it. Last month I reread the first three books and then I went on to complete the series by reading the final three book which I hadn’t yet read. I just finished reading City of Heavenly Fire and wanted to type this up with everything fresh in my mind! I loved the main group of characters in this series and the way that they continue to grow and develop over the course of the whole series. There were some side characters and a main one or two that I wasn’t a fan of. I loved the plot line and how the main focus was basically the same through the books. I loved the ending to the series, I feel like it was ended the way it should have been ended and knowing that there are going to be spin off series from this one coming out, the first one coming out next year, makes me really happy! With the series being turned into a tv show I am anxious to see what they change and if they stay true to the way things happen in the books or not. If you haven’t read this series or at least started it, I highly recommend at least checking out the first book, City of Bones. Hands down one of my favorite series and some of my all time favorite characters as well.
