Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2)Date Published: February 5, 2013

Dates Read: 2/2/15 to 2/9/15

Rating: 5 stars!

Synopsis: (Note: I did edit the synopsis due to it containing spoilers for the first book Cinder) Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

My Thoughts: I can’t explain how much I love this series! This book was even better than Cinder which is saying a lot considering how amazing Cinder is. This book is a futuristic retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. In this book we get several points of view from Scarlet, Cinder, Prince Kai, Thorne, some little bits of Wolf’s point of view and if memory serves correctly there is a point where its Levana whose point of view we are getting. Usually I am not a big fan of having so many pov’s in one book, but in the case it seriously worked and lent so much to the story to be able to get so many different perspectives on the things happening. There were a few twists that I did not see coming, but that made things interesting. I loved all the characters except for Levana and I will never like Levana she is just terrible. So much happens in this book that I managed to fill up three pages in my little reading notes notebook. I just can’t recommend this series enough!
