SynopsisTo survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness…

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for… again.

Enter Julie Kagawa’s dark and twisted world as an unforgettable journey begins.

My Thoughts: When I first started this book I wasn’t sure that I was going to end up liking it all that much, but as the book went on I started getting more and more into the story and I started getting invested in the characters. I ended up really liking this book. I loved the main character Allie, she is quite the badass and she owns it. I also really like Zeke who comes into the picture about halfway through the book. He is an amazing character. There were some that I despised though! I like the fact that the vampires in this book were actually a little freaky and I would not want to run into one of them anywhere. I really enjoy Julie’s writing style and the flow of the story. I am really looking forward to finding out what happens in the next book, which I am reading now! 🙂
